Lanna Spa in Sea Point
Sea Point has more spas per square kilometre than just about anywhere else in Cape Town. Walk a single block of Main Road and you'll pass three or four signs offering some version of massage or beauty. Which one you actually want depends entirely on what kind of visit you have in mind — and the choices are genuinely different.
This is an honest local guide to the spa landscape in Sea Point, written from inside one of those spas. We won't pretend Lanna is the right pick for every visit. We'll help you make the right call for yours.
First, what kind of spa visit are you actually after?
"Spa" covers a wide range of things in Sea Point. Knowing which category fits your visit narrows the field instantly.
A serious massage. You want skilled hands, a quiet room, and to leave feeling looser than you arrived. The Thai massage spas on Main Road and Regent Road — Lanna, Hatyai, Lavender, Kinnaree — are usually the best value here. R440 to R600 buys a properly trained 60-minute massage. Most are walk-in friendly outside of peak weekend slots.
A beauty appointment. Manicure, pedicure, waxing, facial, brow work. Dante Wellness on Regent Road is the standout for nails (and the busiest — book ahead). For waxing and quick beauty, smaller spots along Main Road do a clean job for less. Most Sea Point Thai spas also offer beauty add-ons.
A pampering day out. Sauna, jacuzzi, treatment plus lounge time. La Vita on Beach Road has the facilities for this in Sea Point itself. The Winchester Hotel Spa and Sanctuary at the Cole offer more luxurious hotel-spa experiences at higher price points.
Pregnancy or wellness-focused care. Mommy Wellness specialises in pregnancy and baby massage. Body+Mind Wellness on Kloof Road sits inside the Sea Point Medical Centre and leans clinical. Both are good fits if you want a more medical-adjacent environment.
Aesthetic treatments. Hydrafacials, skin work, lasers, injectables. I-SPA Aesthetics is the closest dedicated aesthetic clinic in the area.
If you're not sure which category you fit into, the question to ask yourself is: "Am I here for the treatment, or for the day?" If it's the treatment, a focused Thai or beauty spa is almost always better value. If it's the day, you want somewhere with facilities.
What you'll spend at a spa in Sea Point
Honest ranges as of 2026, give or take:
- 30-minute reflexology or focused massage: R130–R350
- 60-minute Thai or oil massage: R440–R600 at Thai spas; R650–R900 at hotel spas
- 90-minute massage: R650–R900 at Thai spas; R1,000–R1,400 at hotel spas
- Couples massage (60 min, two therapists): R880–R1,200 at Thai spas; R1,500–R2,500 at hotel spas
- Manicure or pedicure: R250–R450 standard; R450–R650 with gel
- Facial: R400–R900 depending on type and venue
- Spa package (multi-treatment, often with a small extra like tea or chocolates): R500–R1,100
If you see a price dramatically lower than these ranges, ask what's included — sometimes the timing is shorter than expected, or the treatment is more basic than the name suggests.
When you can actually get an appointment
This matters more than people realise, and the SERPs don't tell you about it. A few patterns worth knowing:
Sundays. Several well-known Sea Point spas are closed on Sundays — including Dante Wellness, Body+Mind, and a number of beauty-focused venues. If you want a Sunday treatment, your options are mostly the Thai spas (Lanna and Lavender are open Sunday 9am–9pm; Kinnaree opens at 10am) and the hotel spas.
Late evenings. Most spas close at 7pm. A few stay open later: Lanna and Lavender till 9pm, Kinnaree till 8pm, I-SPA till 8pm (10pm on Fridays and Saturdays). If you're booking for after work, check before you walk over.
Weekend mornings. Saturday between 10am and 1pm is the busiest slot of the week across most spas. Book at least a day ahead, especially for couples treatments where two therapists need to be available at once.
Walk-ins. Weekday afternoons (Tuesday to Thursday between 2pm and 5pm) you can usually walk into most Thai spas in Sea Point and be on a table within 10 minutes. Outside those hours, message ahead.
Where in Sea Point matters
Sea Point isn't one place — it has clear sub-areas, and they affect your visit.
Main Road is the busiest commercial spine. Most of the Thai and beauty spas cluster here, including Lanna at 156 Main Road, Hatyai at 196, Lavender at 122, and Blue Diamond at 303. Street parking is metered but usually findable, and the Main Road MyCiTi bus line stops every block or two.
Regent Road runs parallel to Main Road, one street up towards the mountain. Quieter, with several of the higher-end and nail-focused spas — Dante Wellness, Kinnaree, and a number of independent therapists.
Beach Road hugs the Atlantic and the Sea Point Promenade. La Vita Spa is here, along with Sanctuary at the Cole and the hotel spas at the Winchester and President. The walk to the Promenade afterwards is one of the genuine pleasures of a Sea Point spa visit.
Kloof Road (the upper end, near Bantry Bay) houses the Sea Point Medical Centre and the spas inside it — Body+Mind, The Spa Room, and a handful of smaller therapists. Quieter, with a more clinical feel.
If you're staying in Sea Point and want a quick walk, any of these areas are 10 minutes apart on foot. If you're driving in from elsewhere in Cape Town, parking is easiest on the Atlantic side (Beach Road) and tightest on Main Road during weekday lunch hours.
What to ask before you book
A handful of questions will save you from the most common Sea Point spa disappointments. We've heard each of these from customers who came to us after a frustrating first visit elsewhere.
"What kind of Thai massage is this?" "Traditional Thai" means stretching and pressure-point work on a futon mat, fully clothed in loose clothing, no oil. "Thai oil massage" or "Thai aromatherapy" is closer to a Swedish flow with Thai influences — oil, massage bed, no stretching. Both are legitimate; they're just different experiences. Ask what you're booking.
"How firm is your standard pressure?" Sea Point spas vary a lot. If you carry tension in your shoulders or want a deep tissue session, say so explicitly when booking — and again when you meet your therapist. A good therapist will adjust; if they can't, that tells you something.
"Is the room private?" For couples massages especially, confirm whether you'll be in the same room together or in adjacent rooms. Both are common in Sea Point and both are fine — just know which you're getting.
"What's included?" If a package is listed at a low price, confirm exactly what's in it. Some packages bundle shorter treatments than the headline suggests.
"How do I get there and where do I park?" Some spas are on upper floors of office blocks; some require a code or buzzer; some have a dedicated bay; most rely on street parking. Knowing in advance reduces the late-and-stressed arrival.
About us — Lanna Thai Massage & Beauty
We're at 156 Main Road, between Three Anchor Bay and Glengariff Road, with a street-level entrance and no stairs. Open seven days a week, 9am to 9pm. Our name comes from the ancient Thai kingdom of Lanna, in northern Thailand — Lanna literally means "the land of a million paddy fields."
Our therapists are trained in traditional Thai techniques, and we offer the full range of massage and beauty services: traditional Thai, Thai oil, deep tissue, aromatherapy, pregnancy-safe massage, foot reflexology, manicures, pedicures, facials, and waxing. You can see the full treatment menu for current prices, or look at current spa packages if you'd like a combination at a saving.
Some things that tend to come up:
- You can add a shower to any treatment — useful if you're coming straight from a hike, the gym, or the Promenade.
- For couples massages, we have a dedicated couples room and can roster two therapists for the same time slot with 24 hours' notice.
- Bookings are easiest by WhatsApp to +27 79 527 7901, or online via our booking page.
- We're wheelchair accessible with no steps from the street.
- Therapist requests are welcome — let us know if you've enjoyed someone's work before and we'll do our best to roster them.
Where Lanna isn't the right choice
We'd rather you go to the right place than the wrong one, so:
If you want a full-day luxury spa experience with sauna, jacuzzi, pool, and treatment, La Vita in Sea Point or the Winchester Hotel Spa are better fits. We're a focused treatment spa, not a leisure facility.
If you're after a highly curated nail and beauty experience with a long, glossy nail-bar feel, Dante Wellness on Regent Road has built a strong reputation for this.
If you're booking a spa day for a large group (six or more), the larger hotel spas have more capacity to handle bigger parties in one space. We can do groups, but our maximum simultaneous capacity is more limited.
If you want medical-aesthetic treatments like injectables, lasers, or peels, I-SPA Aesthetics or one of the dedicated medical aesthetics clinics is the appropriate setting.
For everything else — a properly skilled, well-priced massage in a clean, quiet spa, on Main Road, seven days a week till 9pm — we'd love to see you.

Frequently asked questions
How many spas are there in Sea Point?
At least twenty distinct spas, salons, and wellness venues operate in Sea Point as of 2026, ranging from one-room independent therapists to large hotel spas. Around half are concentrated on or near Main Road.
What's the best Thai spa in Sea Point?
There isn't one universal answer — it depends on whether you prioritise price, location, hours, or specific treatment style. The most highly reviewed Thai spas in Sea Point as of 2026 include Lanna, Kinnaree, and Hatyai. Read recent Google reviews for each and pick based on what reviewers mention as strengths.
Is Lanna a luxury spa?
No. Lanna is a focused Thai massage and beauty spa — clean, professional, well-priced, with skilled therapists — but not a full-day luxury experience with sauna or pool. If you want luxury facilities, look at hotel spas in Sea Point.
Do I need to book ahead?
On weekday daytimes you can usually walk in. Evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays we recommend booking at least a day ahead. Couples bookings need 24+ hours so we can roster two therapists.
What's the difference between traditional Thai and Thai oil massage?
Traditional Thai uses stretching and pressure-point work on a mat, fully clothed, no oil — best for releasing stiffness and tension. Thai oil massage uses warm oil and flowing strokes on a massage bed — best for relaxation. We offer both at Lanna.
Are spas in Sea Point open on Sundays?
Many are not. Lanna is open Sundays 9am–9pm. Most hotel spas open Sundays. Many beauty-focused and wellness day spas in Sea Point are closed Sundays.
Where's the parking?
Street parking on Main Road right outside Lanna, plus free side-street parking on the cross streets within a one-minute walk. Car guards typically expect R5–R10.
Do you do gift vouchers?
Yes. Ask at reception or message us on WhatsApp. We can issue same-day vouchers via email.
